Waring and his lot No. 5 in Beaufort town. Grist mill to be sold to pay his debts. Land in K. and Q. left him by his father, Col. Thomas Waring, 1200 a., to be sold for same purpose, Rest of his Est. to his seven children equally i.e., dau. Ball, dau. Robb, Thomas Gouldman, Wm. W., Henry W., Eliz. "Waring, Francis, son of Col. Thomas Waring, was colonel of the Essex County militia, and burgess for Essex in 1758-1761, 1761-1765, and 1766-1768; was one of the signers of the Northern Neck protest against the Stamp Act. He died in 1771."

His heirs were allowed 4,000 acres land May 17, 1839 for 3 years services (Rep. 1063.27 Cong. 2d Sess. p. 36 Do. 457, 28th Cong. 1st Sess. p. 138)
In Thomas Waring's will, St. Anne's Parish, Essex Co., VA, he makes bequests to his two sisters, Anne Latane and Susanna Lewis. He also states, "If my nephew Warner Lewis lives to age 21 and will relinquish and make over to his tow brothers, John and Joseph Jones Lewis and sister Lucy Lewis all right and claim to the land devised to him by his father, Doctor John Lewis, then I give to him my plantation Gouldsberry. Otherwise, I give Gouldsberry to my two nephews, Henry W. Latane and Joseph Lewis and their heirs. My sister Susanna Lewis' four children, John, Lucy, Warner and Joseph..."
