Dr. William COCKE was born in 1672 in Sudbury, Suffolk, England. He died on 20 Oct 1720 in Williamsburg, VA. He married Elizabeth CATESBY.
William came to this country in the middle of the 18th century from Co. Suffolk. He entered Queen’s College, Cambridge, in 1688, where he took his medical degree in 1693, and was entered to a Fellowship, in 1694. He had been Secretary of State for some time when he was recommended (1713) by Governor Spotswood to be appointed as a member of the Council. [VA Mag.
